La
Fontaine de Mars, 129, rue
Saint-Dominique
Southwest (Pais Basque) Style Cuisine
Moderate -
Executive Chef/Owner: Jacques and
Christiane Boudon
This outstanding and informal Parisian
bistro in the 7th Arrondissement offers a
varied and flavorful Pays Basque style
menu in very cozy and comfortable
surroundings. Popular with the business
crowd for lunch, it offers terrace dining
in the summer. There is a private dining
room for small groups. The Plat du Jour is
always a good selection, or try the Magret
de Canard, or the Volaille Champignons
followed by an excellent selection of
deserts to finish off the meal. Good
selection of Pays Basque wines as well as
the usual Bordeaux. The staff is
outstanding in their service and
suggestions. They open early (19h00 -7 PM)
to accommodate the tourist who seem unable
to adjust to the Parisian style of eating
later in the evening. The Parisians do not
start arriving until after 20h30 and stay
until closing. Dress casual, but try to
forgo the ball caps and shorts,
please.
Open for lunch and diner until 23h00 (11
PM). Open 7 days a week, but Closed
annually from 18 July through 18 August.

hanging clusters of pimentos add spice to
the air.

Spanish Cuisine with an international

Moderate to Expensive -

Executive Chef: Alberto Herraiz
This very popular Spanish restaurant,
located in the heart of the Latin Quarter,
a few short steps away from the Cathedral
of Notre Dame on the left bank, is well
worth a visit. The restaurant may be
small, but the service is friendly and
accommodating. The Paella, a house
specially, crowds the small tables, but is
well worth a taste. Good selection of
wines from both Spain and France.

What a world of difference from our
previous night's dinner and equal in every
way to our first visit here last year.
Market
driven menu entrée of smoked trout
and fruit and the market entrée
desert. The wine, Graves de Vayres, was a
great compliment to our meal. You'll learn
to relax in the friendly atmosphere and
service of this family owned restaurant in
the 7th. Especially interesting, and
adding a touch of class, is the plate of
walnuts and hazelnuts served after dinned,
as well as the small dish of truffles from
the world famous chocolate shop only a few
steps away, on the corner. You'll saver
the unique selections of coffees they

Inexpensive to Moderate -

Executive Chef/Owner: Thierry Verola
This unique wine bar, extremely popular
with the local business crowd for lunch,
is located in a major shopping district on
the right bank. This is a casual dining
experience not to be missed. At noon
you're liable to find men in business
suits mixed with the shop keepers and
delivery men, standing four deep at the
bar. Although the decor is somewhat dated,
reminiscent of post-WW II, the atmosphere
is truly both relaxing and inviting. One
thing you'll notice when you first sit
down at the small tables lining the wall
is that the labels have been removed from
the wine bottles displayed above the bar.
"I'm not being paid to advertise" was the
response from Madam. Nonetheless, both the
wine and the food is worth a stop anytime
you're in the neighborhood shopping.
Open for lunch and diner until 23h00 (11
PM). Reservations not required in the main
area, but space is very limited. Private
dinning area upstairs.
